The Mirrors Programme’s Field of Learning Gardening Club is Back with an Opportunity for Growth and Community Engagement

The Mirrors Programme is thrilled to announce that the Field of Learning Gardening Club is back! A five-week initiative commencing on November 7th, 2023. The program will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, finishing on December 7th, 2023.

The Field of Learning Gardening Club for students ages 13-18 is designed to foster a sense of community, growth, and education, and will offer participants a hands-on experience in gardening while promoting personal development, social engagement, and the enhancement of horticultural skills.

Government Payroll Update

The Bermuda Government is providing an update on the Government payroll due to the cyber-attack.

The September 20 cyber-attack impacted the Government’s ability to process its weekly and monthly payrolls from September 17 to October 8. The Government extends its sincere thanks to the banking community that worked to assist in facilitating payments using bank records.

However, it should be known that these bank records were not able to be modified to account for any changes, including overpayments, underpayments and or terminations.

Prosecutions Team Participate in International Conference

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Cindy Clarke, led a small team to London to participate in the International Association of Prosecutors’ (IAP) Annual General Conference, held from September 24-27, under the theme “The Changing Nature of Crime in the 21st Century: Challenges and Responses”. There were over 500 attendees, with 70 countries represented.

Royal Bermuda Regiment Recruitment of New Commanding Officer

Her Excellency the Governor is seeking applications to fill the post of Commanding Officer of the Royal Bermuda Regiment. Lt Col Beasley’s tenure as Commanding Officer will end by June 2024. The role will be advertised locally and will be open to Bermudians and Spouses of Bermudians legally able to swear allegiance to the Crown.

The new appointment will be made by the Governor, having considered a recommendation by the Promotions Board of the Royal Bermuda Regiment, following a vetting and interview process.

The West End Development Corporation (WEDCO) is issuing a safety advisory to the public concerning the North Arm area within the Royal Naval Dockyard.

This area, seen in the attached photo, has experienced significant erosion, leading to a safety risk for mariners in the vicinity and visitors on land.

It is essential for the safety of all those visiting the Royal Naval Dockyard that extreme caution be exercised while near this area, which will be fenced off until it is repaired.
