This week, Bermuda welcomes 20 energy professionals from 12 Caribbean nations for the week-long Caribbean Energy Transition Academy Fellowship Summit and is proud to have 3 participants representing the Bermuda Electric Light Company (BELCO).

The Summit includes site visits to Bermuda’s solar and electric transportation projects, regional networking, capstone project presentation, and other experiential learning opportunities toward a more sustainable, clean energy future for the region.

Government invites applicants to apply for the 2023 Public Service Bursary Awards

The Bermuda Government is currently accepting applications for the 2023 Public Service Bursary Award Scheme. The deadline for applications is April 28, 2023.

The Public Service Bursary Award Scheme provides funding to Bermudians pursuing post-secondary academic qualifications in a discipline identified to meet future needs of Government Departments. This ensures a well-trained selection of individuals to fill positions within the Public Service. The bursaries are valued at $20,000 per annum; not exceeding five (5) years.

Junior Minister of Finance Statement on Government Fees Amendment Regulations 2023

The Junior Minister of Finance, Senator Arianna Hodgson, is today clarifying a statement she made in the Senate yesterday (March 23, 2023).

Senator Hodgson explained, “In my brief presented to the Senate on The Government Fees Amendment Regulations 2023, in my capacity as the Junior Minister of Finance, I stated that the increases in Government fees would raise an additional $21 million in revenue. This figure was incorrect.

National Security Minister Applauds Anti-Violence Peace Walk for Upholding Peace and Unity

“Saturday’s display of peace during a walk in Paget was a powerful display of unity and strength, and it showed that the people of this community are determined to come together to create a safe and peaceful environment,” said Minister of National Security Michael Weeks, JP, MP, in applauding the initiative that took place on 18 March.

The Ministry of National Security was proud to participate in the event, which began with a tree-planting ceremony at Bermuda College and was attended by members of the Ministry’s Gang Violence Reduction Team.

December 2022 Consumer Price Index

Consumers paid 4.1 per cent more in December 2022 than a year ago for the basket of goods and services included in the Consumer Price Index [CPI].

The Ministry of Economy and Labour released the December 2022 CPI from the Department of Statistics.

“In summary, during December 2022, consumers paid 4.1 per cent more than they did a year ago for the basket of goods and services included in the CPI. This level of inflation was up from the November 2022 annual inflation rate of 3.8 per cent.
