The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) can confirm that Animal Control officers responded to four dog-biting incidents on Friday, January 13.

“The Skills Development Programme (SDP) represents an excellent opportunity for young people to gain valuable lifelong skills while reducing the unemployment rate among young people,” said Minister of Public Works, Lt. Col. the Hon. David A. Burch, OBE (Mil), ED, JP, MP, about his Ministry’s latest SDP intake.

“Over 400 payroll tax relief applicants have pending applications because employers have not verified their employment and salary. Additionally, over 150 applicants need to submit further information to receive their payment. To assist employers and applicants, the deadline has been extended for the receipt of additional information to January 31, 2023,” said Premier and Minister of Finance David Burt.

Last week, Premier David Burt and the Head of the Public Service, Dr. Derrick Binns recognised the Ministry of Transport’s Donawin Mallory as the recipient of the December (2022) Government of Bermuda’s Public Service Excellence Award.

 As the community is aware, the PSEA is a programme recognizes Public Officers who are demonstrating admirable service delivery. Each month an individual or team is selected for their significant accomplishments in the last 60 days.

The Ministry of Home Affairs is heartened to hear that the Fishermen’s Association of Bermuda (FAB) supports managing and enforcing Bermuda’s marine resources. The purpose of BOPP is to develop a sustainable management system that recognises the current issues and future challenges that our marine environment must face and includes all Bermudians, now and in the future. 

The Government recently released its 2023 – 2024 Pre-Budget Report. The Pre-Budget Report is a policy statement issued by the Government prior to the release of its budget.

It defines the priorities for the next budget in a medium-term framework covering external developments and internal strategies. It is intended to clearly state the Government’s economic and fiscal policy challenges and its objectives and intentions in the medium term.

The Department of Public Transportation (DPT) advises that there will be detours for Route 3,10 and 11  buses due to road closures associated with the Bermuda Triangle Challenge. The detours will be in effect on Saturday, January 14^th and Sunday January 15^th. Journey times on these routes will be impacted by the detours.

While the initial phase of public consultation extended to December 31, 2022, is complete, the Ministry of Home Affairs encourages the public to continue submitting their feedback on the Draft Blue Prosperity Plan via email to environment@gov.bm or through the Bermuda Citizen’s Forum, which will remain open.
