COVID-19 Update 6 October 2021

“It distresses me to report again that since our last update, Bermuda experienced five more coronavirus-related deaths,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson, JP, MP. “My sincere condolences go out to the families and friends who have lost loved ones. Although our number of active cases is trending in the right direction, we are still experiencing deaths, and that is very sad.”

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 3299 test results, and 36 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 1.1%.

Premier’s Instagram Account Hacked

The Premier’s Instagram account, @davidburtmp or instgram.com/davidburtmp, has been hacked. All of the Premier’s content on the Instagram account has been removed. 

There was an indication that the account was compromised yesterday, and despite actions taken to secure the account, the account was unable to be accessed earlier today. The Department of Communications has made contact with Facebook and are working to regain access to the account.

Good afternoon.

I begin my remarks today by offering heartfelt condolences to the friends and families of those mourning the loss of a loved one to circumstances related to the coronavirus in recent weeks. You remain in my thoughts and prayers.

It does appear that our numbers are trending in the right direction, and our active cases are decreasing. I want to thank everyone for doing their part and making an effort to stop the spread of this aggressive Delta Variant.
