End-to-End event makes its return for the 38th year

One of the island’s biggest charity fundraisers is scheduled to take place next month with a host of prizes up for grabs.
The Convex End-to-End, now in its 38th year, is scheduled for May 3 and organisers are inviting the entire community to participate, volunteer or cheer from the sidelines.
This year’s event supports five local charities: Age Concern; Bermuda Audubon Society; Bermuda Red Cross; the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Bermuda; and The Reading Clinic.
Christen Styche, End-to-End’s board chairwoman, said: “All pledges raised by our participants are distributed among this year’s charities. Individual fundraising efforts go a long way to supporting these vital charitable programmes.
“Anyone who fundraises also has the chance to win incredible prizes like an overnight stay at the Hamilton Princess and Beach Club, round-trip tickets on BermudAir, a Tissot sports watch from Astwood Dickinson, an Exhale Spa massage, dinner at Fourways Restaurant and Inn, lunch for two at the Crown & Anchor or a Vineyard Vines gift card.”
The Deloitte Top School Prize of $15,000 will be awarded to the school team that raises the most money.
This year, Butterfield has also sponsored 50 students to participate from Dellwood Middle School, Sandys Secondary Middle School and Whitney Institute Middle School.
Routes include the full 24.1-mile End-to-End, the 14-mile Middle-to-End, and the three-mile Fun Walk and Cycle which is ideal for families.
Those up for a challenge can brave the End-to-End-to-End — a 48.2-mile cycling route that covers the length of the island twice.
Ms Styche added: “We have several school and corporate teams rallying together this year, which is great to see.
“We’ve also got rowers from the Bermuda Rowing Association, an all-female crew from the Bermuda Pilot Gig Rowers and returning Opti sailors joining the action.
“No matter your route, we’ll all finish together in Dockyard where the Town Crier, Power Girl and our amazing volunteers will be waiting to celebrate with you.
“We’re also excited to announce the new End Zone full of vendors and fun activities to keep you refreshed and entertained when you finish the event.”
All route maps, start times, transport details and water stop information can be found in the End-to-End Event Programme available on bermudaendtoend.bm.
Interested participants can sign up at bermudaendtoend.bm or register to be a volunteer road marshal at bermudaendtoend.bm/volunteer.
The Convex End-to-End event office will be located in the Sunglass and Watch Shop on 15 Reid Street.
Participants can collect their event number, T-shirt and goodie bag from Monday to May 2, between 8.30am and 5pm.
Extended hours will be available on Wednesday from 8.30am to 6pm.
