Gombey Festival Postponed until 4 November

Due to inclement weather forecast for this weekend, the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sport has decided to postpone the Gombey Festival Showcase until Saturday, 4 November, 2023.

Following discussions between the Department of Culture and key stakeholders, it was agreed that this event would be best manifested as originally intended as an outdoor event so as to accommodate the large attendance that the Festival has attracted in recent years.

Minister of National Security Strongly Condemns Hamilton Shooting, Urges Public Cooperation in Investigation

Today, the Minister of National Security, the Hon. Michael Weeks, JP, MP, offered the following statement over today’s shooting incident in Hamilton: “I am appalled by today’s shooting incident and feel sorry for those who had to experience this terrifying event. 

“This act of violence is reckless and puts innocent lives at risk, which is totally unacceptable in a civilised society such as Bermuda.

“I condemn this violence in the strongest possible terms and am confident that the Bermuda Police Service will apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime.
