Bermudians in the UK invited to attend ‘Bermuda Dinner and Dialogue’
The Government of Bermuda’s London Office invites Bermudian university students and recent graduates to attend the ‘Bermuda Dinner and Dialogue’ event, with the Premier, the Hon. E. David Burt, JP, MP.
The dinner will take place Thursday, 11 May 2023 at a venue in Central London.
The occasion will present a unique opportunity to engage with young members of Bermuda’s diaspora in the UK. It will also provide a networking space for Bermuda students and recent graduates to share their experiences.
Deadline Extended for Bermuda Day Parade Emtries
The Bermuda Day Parade entry deadline has been extended to April 28th for those still looking to participate in this year’s event.
Entries can be filled out at Bermuda Day – Department of Culture.
So, those wishing to be a part of the iconic event, including gombeys, dance troupes, drum lines, floats, majorettes, music trucks and more are encouraged to sign up today.

Appointment of New Deputy Commissioner of Police
Her Excellency the Governor, Ms Rena Lalgie, has today announced the appointment of Mrs Na’imah Astwood to the substantive role of Deputy Commissioner of Police with the Bermuda Police Service with effect from 1 May 2023.
The position was advertised both locally and internationally and the appointment was made following an open recruitment process in line with best practice.
Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service Appoints Dana Lovell as Chief Fire Officer
The Ministry of National Security is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Dana Lovell as the new Chief Fire Officer of the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service (BFRS).
With 38 years of experience in firefighting and emergency response, Mr Lovell brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise.
Mr Lovell has been serving as Acting Chief Fire Officer since May 2022. Before his appointment, he served as Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Divisional Officer for Operations and Staff Officer, among other ranks.
Thirteen Department of Corrections Officers Promoted During Ceremony
“You are role models for the next generation of corrections officers, and it is up to you to set the standard for professionalism, integrity, and compassion,” said Minister of National Security Michael Weeks, JP, MP, during the promotions ceremony this week for the Department of Corrections (DOC).
Thirteen officers received promotions during the ceremony at Corrections Headquarters (Westgate Correctional Facility), also attended by friends and family.
Minister Weeks added: “As you assume your new roles, I encourage you to embrace the challenges that lie ahead.
