Mr. Speaker, I lay before this Honourable House the Bermuda Housing Trust (“the BHT”) Audited Financial Statements for the fiscal year ending 2020 – which indicate that the Trust remains in a strong financial position.

This morning, I rise to provide my Honourable colleagues with an update on the Ministry of Education’s consultation process for the proposal to introduce parish primary schools. There have been comments in the public domain recently that have not represented our proposed Education Reform’s true nature. I hope to clarify what has been happening with this statement.

Good day.
The Ministry of Health received 337 test results since the last update, and two were positive for COVID-19. The first new case is a non-resident who arrived on Delta DL 617 from New York on 12 February and tested positive on their day four test. The second new case is a non-resident who arrived on Jet Blue B62231 from New York on 12 February and tested positive on their day four test
Additionally, since the last update, there were no recoveries.
There are currently eight active cases, of which;
● Seven are under public health monitoring and;
Today, Dr. The Hon. Ernest Peets, JP, Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport, wishes to remind the athletes and the public of the Return to Play Guidance for Sports, and provide an update on the saliva COVID-19 testing for sports.

The Ministry of Public Works wishes to remind the public that using the Elbow Beach public staircase from Tribe Road No 4b is currently prohibited.
Use of the existing staircase poses a risk to public safety. The previously erected signs and barriers to prevent public access were unlawfully removed. The Ministry can advise that the signs and barriers have been reinstated.
Access to the staircase will remain closed until construction works are complete in the coming months.
While testing was originally “required for adults and children aged 11 – 17″ as part of the ‘Return to Play’ sports guidelines, following consultation, the Government has revised the position for children to “strongly recommend that young persons and children aged 11 to 17 be tested.” Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport Dr. Ernest Peets […]
