I am joined by the Minister of Health, the Hon. Kim Wilson who will be providing an update to the public on the latest from her Ministry including changes to our rules surrounding travel to the island. Following that I will give an update on matters related to our border opening and training opportunities that are available to Bermudians so that they may reenter the workplace. Good Evening Members of the Media, 

Yesterday, there were 1,483 test results received by the Ministry of Health, and none were positive for COVID-19. 

Bermuda has had 223 total confirmed positive cases. Their status is as follows:

The Ministry of Public Works can advise that following routine maintenance on the Toyota Corolla assigned to the Cabinet Office, the GP1 license plate was erroneously switched to the Toyota Corolla. Once the error was realized, it was immediately resolved by placing the 31445 license plate back on the Corolla.

The Government today announced that Mr. Raymond Jones, CPA has been appointed the Director of the Department of Economic Development. Mr. Jones, a Certified Public Accountant, joins the newly created department following a thorough recruitment process. Mr. Jones brings strong leadership, a wealth of knowledge and experience to the post including seven years at the Bermuda Economic Development Corp (BEDC) as the Finance Director.

Following the news of the temporary closure of Pompano Beach Club, Premier David Burt said today: “Few businesses are insulated against the economic impact of this pandemic. The world over we are seeing that these are challenging times for the hospitality industry and Bermuda is no different.  For those members of staff who are now without employment, there is assistance available from the Ministry of Labour via the supplementary unemployment benefit and also the Department of Workforce Development.

The mission of the Ministry of Transport is to transport people and goods efficiently and safely. One of our main priorities is; 

1. To transform the transport fare media so that it is frictionless and cashless. 

It is with this context that we aim to Modernise Public Transportation through the implementation of a Digital Fare Media. 

A Digital Fare Media will provide the option for both residents and visitors alike to use their:

Following the November 6th Speech from the Throne, I would like to highlight upcoming initiatives that fall under my remit as the Minister of Public Works. 

Many will know that the intricate story of Bermuda started on the shores of an east-end landfall, and from that unintended beginning, the Island’s historical anchor has been St. George’s. Rebuilding Bermuda must encompass the renewal of the east end. 

On Thursday, November 5^th 2020 Minister of Home Affairs the Hon. Walter Roban JP, MP visited the St. Regis Bermuda Resort site in St. George’s for a tour and progress update from the developers.

Minister Roban was joined by MP Lovitta Foggo, Senator and Junior Home Affairs Minister Lindsay Simmons as well as the Director of Planning, Victoria Pereira – plus various Department of Planning staff and members of the Development Applications Board (DAB).
